Extension of Validity Period for Customers Using Messaging Services

TL;DR: ValidityPeriod default value is increasing from 4 to 10 hours for Customers using Messaging Services.

Starting July 15, 2024, Twilio is increasing the default Validity Period for customers using Messaging Services for SMS and MMS from 4 to 10 hours. This change is a continuation of the phased rollout which began on June 6 for customers leveraging our API. Please see the May 7, 2024,changelog for more details.

This adjustment aims to improve message deliverability and reduce the occurrence of 30001 errors. Starting July 15, 2024, customers will gradually see their default Validity Period extended to 10 hours. Customers will retain the ability to set custom Validity Periods as per their specific needs, and this update will establish 10 hours as the new default maximum.

Further Updates for Messaging Services Customers using WhatsApp:

For customers using WhatsApp, the default Validity Period adjustment to 10 hours will take place in the near future. Details of this specific phase will be announced in an upcoming changelog.
